WORKSHOPS:
MARK ATTEBERRY :: Marketing - "Know Your Type/Act Like Yourself"
In this class Mark will take you right to the heart of the matter...
how to capitalize on your own uniqueness! Mark will specifically teach
you all about type casting, the roles you will most likely play and how
to bring the "real you" to the business of acting. The focus will be on
accepting how you will be cast, the secrets to being yourself and how
to capitalize on what you have to offer as a unique individual (which
is what the stars do). Through the exercises in this workshop, you will
leave with a list of looks, types and age categories that YOU will most
likely be seen for and how to make that list a practical and useful
tool in your marketing. As an added bonus Mark will explore one of the
most important tools in the actor's arsenal: the headshot! Learn from
this top headshot photographer the "secrets" to getting a headshot that
WORKS!
CLAY BANKS :: Film Acting
What is a Film Director ultimately looking for? How well under control are your movements in a tight shot?
Do you deliver effective emotional intensity in an ECU (extreme
close-up)? Knowing the answers to these questions can greatly affect
your success as a film actor. This on-camera, no non-sense acting and
audition technique is geared specifically for acting in Film. You'll
see what works, what doesn't’t and why. Experience a powerful acting
workout set in a very supportive environment, grounded in biblical
principles. Learn about a technique in line lifting and cold reading
that will equip you with supreme confidence and consistency. You'll
also see how after reviewing your sides just once, you'll be able to
pull off a powerful film read in every audition.
ANTHONY BARNAO :: Audition Technique: Telling the Truth
It's harder to be authentic in an audition than you
think. Actor's often think they need to do more than necessary or they
indicate what they are feeling rather than just being honest, natural
and real. In this class, we'll focus on telling the truth, being
simple and putting the work behind your eyes.
CHRISTINNA CHAUNCEY :: Cold Reading & Audition Technique
Christinna's session will cover on-camera cold-read and audition
technique, specific to episodic television. Students will be provided
audition material from recent television scripts and will have
approximately 10-15 minutes to prepare. Then they will audition the
material on-camera with a reader, followed by a video review and
critique. Questions covered will include audition do's and don'ts,
managing nerves, and what it means to "own the room."
KATHLEEN COOKE :: Commercial Acting Technique
Kathleen Cooke is a successful commercial producer. Sharing years of
successful experience and work she will be teaching "on camera"
commercial acting passing on key points, "insider" tips and hints to
help you become a successful commercial actor. Students will be given
commercial copy and instructed on an individual basis on how to be a
"standout."
BJ DAVIS :: Action for Actors*
In the "Action for Actors" workshop, BJ will
incorporate scene performances with the ability for actors to take and
throw their own punches with fight choreography for film and television
productions. Emphasis will be given not only in the dramatic
performance but also to broaden the commercial viability of talent,
while adding more power to their list of acting abilities. "Action for
Actors" will provide students with a competitive edge, expertise, skill
and abilities that will enhance their production with additional
editorial choices, where your scene will end up on the silver screen
instead of the edit bay floor.
*Please bring workout clothes to wear for this class.
KIM DORR :: Cold Reading for Comedy Focus
on honing your COMEDY skills as you'll be paired with another person
from class to present comedy scenes. You'll work on character, story,
timing, brightness and much more.
SCOTT FISH :: Business of the Business
"What kind of headshots should I get?" "How do I
navigate the relationships in the town?" "How important is a manager
right now?" "And just what
do I wear to an audition?" Working in Hollywood is more than
talent. Scott Fish will be discussing and answering questions on the
Business of the Business, offering strategy advice on building your
career.
JOEL McCRARY :: Improvisation
This class will cover the basics of improv. If you have little or no
improv experience, but have wanted to try - Joel creates a safe and fun
environment. If you have improv experience but want to improve, Joel
has the experience to help. Actors can use improvisational tools to
help them be in the moment, and writers will find it helps them to be
more spontaneous in their writing. Above all this is a fun class and a
great confidence builder.
James Arnold Taylor: Voice-Over / So You Think Voice-Over is Easy?
In this 90-minute class, VO veteran James Arnold Taylor will run you
through the paces of the toughest voice-over situations. Covering
Animation, Promo, Trailer, Commercial, Video Games, ADR/Looping and
Voice-Doubling. If you’ve ever thought voice-over is easy money, come
for your reality check and some fun hands-on experience.
